North Devon is an ideal area to visit out of season. Most attractions are open year round and a long empty beach, out of season, is a great place to walk and enjoy the views in idyllic solitude. Exmoor is especially atmospheric in the autumn and winter. There are large numbers of wild red deer that can be seen with patience. In the late autumn during the rut, the stags can be heard roaring in the wooded valleys. The Exmoor ponies are delightful and can be seen all year round
