“Just had a brilliant week in the Linhay at Lower Hearson Farm Cottages. Thank you both. You were so helpful, and friendly, even after being asked endless questions. Really lovely cottage with everything that you would need. We were made very welcome. Idyllic setting and great fun feeding the pigs, sheep and ducks (even though I am meant to be a grown up). Will certainly stay here again and would highly recommend it. Thank you Farley too.” October 2017
“Just stayed for a week in The Linhay at the beautiful Lower Hearson Farm. I would struggle to find anything more perfect than this. The lovely cottage had everything you could possibly need. The area is so peaceful and relaxing. Our kids loved the animal feeding (so did we), the games room (so did we) and the outdoor play areas. They made some friends and laughed the whole time. Perfect family memories, thank you Graeme.” August 2017
“Thank you for a lovely stay in The Roundhouse. The location is perfect, the gardens are lovely and the cottage was very, very comfortable. Every possible thing that you need for a great holiday was provided.” May 2017
“The accommodation is very comfortable with fully equipped kitchen. The highlight(s) of each day were the morning and evening feeding sessions: hand-feeding the chickens (and collecting the eggs), sheep and guinea pigs, and helping with feeding (and mucking out) the pigs. The big bonus for us was the arrival of a brood of piglets that provided a lot of hands-on time. Graham is very focused on giving the children a good experience, and is ever-smiling. So, definitely stay here (or one of the other cottages on site). April 2017
“Once again thanks for wiggling the dates for our stay last week, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend your holiday cottages.” Sept 2016
“Thanks so much again for such a fabulous stay- it was totally and completely what we needed. Matthew is still missing the sheep!” Sept 2016
“WOW WOW! Where do I start…..if you’re reading this review then go ahead and book your holiday, you will not regret it. The cottage was spacious, exceptionally well equipped, spotlessly clean and most of all it felt like a home from home. There were even games in the cupboard for our son to play with. The farm has beautiful tranquil gardens with swings, a slide, sandpit and trampoline, which our son thoroughly enjoyed. There is also a great covered heated outdoor pool. There is a great play room full of books, DVDs, table tennis table, table football and lots of toys for smaller children. My son had a thoroughly amazing time helping Farmer Graeme in the mornings and afternoons to feed the chickens, sheep and pigs. In fact hubby and I enjoyed it just as much as he did. You have created a truly magical place for children and adults, there isn’t anything they haven’t thought of to make your holiday perfect. I can not thank you enough for giving us so many happy and wonderful memories from an outstanding holiday, which we will all treasure for years to come.” May 2016
“I’ve been meaning to review this amazing place for ages. We stayed with our 2 boys during the easter hols. Lovely clean accomodation which was well equipped (now has cake tins too!). Great facilities and a fabulous host called Graeme. You’ll want to get involved with the feeding of the animals daily. Our eldest loved the piglets and I think they liked him too, lol. Playroom, outside play areas, a treasure hunt make this holiday a special one.” April 2016
“Thank you for a wonderful week. So relaxed. Able to read four books sitting in the lovely gardens” June 2015
“Thank you very much for your hospitality and making us feel welcome. The Roundhouse was perfect and we couldn’t have asked for more. Thanks also for the advice on where to walk. We did a few that you mentioned and they were great. There are still quite a few places and walks we didn’t get to do or see so we look forward to staying with you again next year.” June 2015
“Just returned home from a week in the Roundhouse on Lower Hearson Farm, with my 3 year old son. We were greeted warmly on arrival and shown around the cottage and the farm so that we knew where everything was. The effort that had gone into making the cottage perfect for our arrival and the added bonus of some yummy biscuits was a really good start to the week. Graeme is great with the kids and gave my little boy the chance to get fully involved with caring for the pigs, sheep and chickens on the farm – he encourages the children to be confident and hands on with the animals in just the right way…needless to say my little boy has been talking about the animals and the lovely farm dog ever since! The farm is a wonderfully peaceful retreat, so if you are looking for somewhere rural to stay, but you still want to be close enough to the North Devon coastline to enjoy the beaches then this is the perfect choice. We had an absolutely brilliant time and were very sad to go home…we hope to visit again very soon!” August 2014
“This was our second visit to Lower Hearson Farm and we had a great time. Very friendly welcome from Graeme the farmer who is an excellent host. The children loved feeding the animals every day. Fantastic accommodation – spacious, clean and a good layout for an extended family. The facilities on the farm are excellent with games room, trampoline, play equipment and the swimming pool – great for cooling down after a busy day sightseeing. The farm is well situated to explore North Devon but remote enough to feel as if you are really getting away from it all. We plan to visit again soon. Many of the other guests were return visitors, so my advice is to book early to avoid disappointment!” June 2014
“Thank you Graeme for yet another fantastic holiday. The kids and mum absolutely loved helping Graeme to feed the animals and playing in your beautiful surroundings . A thoroughly relaxing week spent at the Threshing Barn with the children free to play on the amenities all within a safe and watchful distance. Wi-Fi also a godsend!
Fabulous walks taking in the wild life, beautiful beaches nearby and wonderful thatched country pubs to explore for dinner.
Next year booked already – our springer (Monty) can’t wait either ! ” Oct 2013
“Thanks for a wonderful week on the farm Graeme. Dominic was really upset to leave. Anyone thinking of a holiday in Devon with the kids this is a gem of a holiday. Our house felt like home straight away . We felt part of a community with the other families. Dominic really looked forward to feeding the animals each day and collecting eggs. Also a great base to explore north Devon. Oh and a swim at the end of the day was fab.
Graeme we will be back! Hopefully Declan will be old enough to help as well next time.” June 2013
“Just to say a huge thank you for your kindness and help during our week with you. We all really enjoyed ourselves and felt really “at home” in the Shippon. See you again soon.” June 2013
“We had a brilliant stay at Lower Hearson, you’re hidden away in a lovely spot and yet close enough to all those nice pubs and coastal walks. Hope the piggies got their weight up for the table. We enjoyed looking in on them each day. We must say how pleased we were with the accommodation, with everything we could have needed and more ready for us and so clean too. Very, very nice and very, very relaxing! Once again, thank you and we hope to see you again soon.” June 2013
“Many Thanks for helping to make our stay with you in The Shippon cottage so fantastic. We really enjoyed it and had a great time with our grandchildren. Hoping to be back next year” May 2013

“What a fabulous place to stay! 2nd time me and my family have been here, already booked for next year – it’s lovely. We all love feeding the beautiful animals, taking in the wonderful country side and wild life. Graeme gives a wonderful child friendly tour and the warm reception lasts throughout the stay – highly recommended ” May 2011
“Just returned from a fantastic week away here, the children had so much freedom to play in the wonderful grounds. They loved feeding the animals each morning and evening. The grain store was perfect for the four of us, clean and well kept. Graham was brilliant with the children feeding the animals and gave us a very warm welcome when we arrived. A must is a visit to the Bell inn in Chittlehampton. The farm is perfectly placed for some wonderful Beaches and Trips into the beautiful Devon countryside. Fabulous!! Many Thanks” June 2011

“Thanks for a fabulous holiday. Despite the biblical downpours, we still had a great time and Rosie loved braving the elements and testing her endurance by managing to feed the animals EVERY day in the rain. Send our regards to Thicky and Tavey. She can’t stop talking about them. ” August 2012.
“Just wanted to say thank you for a lovely holiday. We all had a great time and poor little Lily was at a loose end this morning with no pigs and chickens to feed ! Hope to see you again. Good luck with the rest of the summer.” August 2012
